I am
pleased to report that a
respected collector and
dealer in Faisalabad
have created what I
believe is the first
comprehensive website
dedicated solely to
Pakistan Philately. He
is
Akhtar-ul-lslam-Siddiqi,
whom I have personally
known for many years,
and is also the author
of the handy pocket
sized series of "Collect
Pakistan Postage Stamps"
catalogues. On this
website we have an
updated version of his
catalogue, articles,
Philatelists Directory,
list of Philatelic
Associations and details
of Philatelic Literature
on Pakistan and much
more.
This is
an important undertaking
for Pakistan philately
and deserves our
support. I recommend all
interested collectors to
have a look at it and if
possible contribute.
Akhtar commented "/ have
tried to make my website
a good magazine instead
of an ordinary web page.
I have paid a lot for
this work but by the
grace of almighty God it
will be recognized
worldwide. Please
publicize this website
in your Pakphil so that
other collectors are
made aware of it".
Although
still in its infancy and
yet to develop to its
full potential it
contains lots of
interesting facts on
Pakistan philately. The
website can be found at
www.pakistanphlately.com
and there you can email
your comments to Akhtar.
I am certain this will
encourage Akhtar and
show him that his
efforts are appreciated.
Finally,
I must also mention that
the 2009 edition of "Popular's
Pakistan Postage Stamps"
has just been published.
This is edited by Latif
Rashed. We reviewed a
previous edition in
issue 14 (May 2006) and
I have no doubt his
excellent standard will
have been maintained. If
any member has
difficulty in obtaining
a copy I can obtain some
from Pakistan. The next
newsletter is scheduled
for May; therefore the
deadline for your
contributions is mid
March.
